NJ law requires a person to successfully complete the course and pass a written test administered by an NRA-certified instructor. The test consists of multiple choice questions that must be answered correctly within the time allowed. You must also show proficiency at firing a pistol or revolver, and demonstrate safe gun handling practices. Your instructor will let you use his or her weapon during this portion of the course, if needed.
