United Airlines offers refunds on tickets in certain situations. If you have a ticketed reservation within the last 24 hours and are unable to travel, you can request a refund online or via the mobile app.
If you have an uneventful trip with United Airlines, you can request a refund for your unused ticket within seven days of departure by contacting Customer Care at (800) 982-8356. If your flight was delayed for more than two hours and if your ticket is eligible for rebooking, United will refund any difference in fare between what you paid and what the new fare cost. You must return any unused tickets within one year from the date of purchase to receive a refund for those tickets.
United Airlines’ refund policy is simple. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, you can return it within 30 days of the purchase date. You’ll need to make sure that the item is in resalable condition and all tags are still attached before returning it.

If your flight is overbooked, we will also refund your ticket cost if it’s necessary for us to rebook you on another carrier’s flight. If this happens, though, please keep in mind that there may be some additional fees associated with the new flight (for example, baggage fees).
