The nv.fcc.gov lifeline (NV) is a data system and centralized process that connects with state and federal benefit databases to verify a consumer’s eligibility. This system requires consumers to upload documents to prove their eligibility. It has connections with 20 states and two federal agencies.

nv.fcc.gov lifeline support is available to low-income subscribers in every state, territory, and commonwealth, including on Indian and tribal lands. To receive support, subscribers must earn less than 135% of the federal poverty level and be enrolled in certain assistance programs. • In addition, the Fifth Report and Order waived the 60-day deadline for recertifying eligibility for Lifeline.

 The deadline for comments is July 2, 2012. However, the FCC has not yet decided on whether to grant the requests or deny them. Regardless of the result, the FCC is looking for input from the public to make sure the Lifeline program continues to serve low-income households in Nevada.

The Wireline Competition Bureau has announced the first phase of the National Lifeline Eligibility Verifier’s soft launch. This process will be completed in six states. Arizona, Idaho, Vermont, and West Virginia are among the states that will begin the process of providing Lifeline service.

Minimum Service Standarts

nv.fcc.gov lifeline benefits can only be used for lifeline services that meet minimum service standards. However, if these standards are not met, the Lifeline benefit will no longer be valid. Without minimum service standards, customers would be forced to pay for “second-class” services. This was a big problem for providers, but the 60-day port freeze that USAC put into place did not force providers out of the program. However, some providers have requested a shorter port freeze.

Lifeline Providers

The FCC announced a number of important developments for nv.fcc.gov lifeline Providers in the coming months. The Commission has issued a number of orders and requests for comment on several petitions from providers, including Amerimex Communications Corp., which requested a limited designation as a Lifeline eligible telecommunications carrier (ETC). In addition, the agency has ordered the implementation of a third-party identification verification system for Lifeline customers. The Wireline Competition Bureau is also seeking comment on the petitions from the Lifeline Reform 2.0 Coalition and the American Broadband and Telecommunications Company. The Wireline Competition Bureau has also issued new guidance for the recertification process of Lifeline Providers in 2013.

National Verifier

The National Verifier (NV) is a government database used to verify eligible consumers’ eligibility for a government assistance program. While the Verifier has improved the consumer experience, the process continues to be challenging, and the FCC is limited in its ability to collect complete information about the process. This may be one reason why some eligible consumers have given up their applications.
