The nv.fcc.gov lifeline (NV) is a data system and centralized process that connects with state and federal benefit databases to verify a consumer’s eligibility. This system requires consumers to upload documents to prove their eligibility. It has connections with 20 states and two federal agencies.

nv.fcc.gov lifeline support is available to low-income subscribers in every state, territory, and commonwealth, including on Indian and tribal lands. To receive support, subscribers must earn less than 135% of the federal poverty level and be enrolled in certain assistance programs. Minimum Service Standarts

Without minimum service standards, customers would be forced to pay for “second-class” services. This was a big problem for providers, but the 60-day port freeze that USAC put into place did not force providers out of the program. However, some providers have requested a shorter port freeze.

Lifeline Providers

The Commission has issued a number of orders and requests for comment on several petitions from providers, including Amerimex Communications Corp., which requested a limited designation as a Lifeline eligible telecommunications carrier (ETC). The Wireline Competition Bureau is also seeking comment on the petitions from the Lifeline Reform 2.0 Coalition and the American Broadband and Telecommunications Company. The Wireline Competition Bureau has also issued new guidance for the recertification process of Lifeline Providers in 2013.

National Verifier

The National Verifier (NV) is a government database used to verify eligible consumers’ eligibility for a government assistance program. While the Verifier has improved the consumer experience, the process continues to be challenging, and the FCC is limited in its ability to collect complete information about the process. This may be one reason why some eligible consumers have given up their applications.
