However, some places where you may be able to get help with an Erap application include your local government’s housing authority or department, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance with housing applications, or a lawyer or other professional who specializes in housing law. 

Who is Eligible for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (Erap)?

Individuals and families who meet the following requirements are likely to be eligible for the emergency rental assistance program: 

• They need not have full-time employment or financial assets but must not be owners of a dwelling or property. 

• State agencies are able to set their own eligibility criteria as long as they are in line with the Uniform Status Qualification System (USQS). 

• The program is not available to those who are in temporary housing, such as hotels and motels. 

How much can i receive from the emergency rental assistance program (Erap)?

Each state determines the amount of assistance provided to individuals and families based on their eligibility and need. The amounts can range from $30 to $250 per month. However, state agencies may provide higher amounts for extreme situations. Each case is individually reviewed. State-funded multifamily projects or apartments may provide space free of charge if funds.
