The state announced Monday that Gov. Rick Snyder would not seek reelection this year after voters approved a ballot measure to repeal a law that barred tip pools from counting toward the minimum wage. Michigan does go through gubernatorial elections, usually once every four years. The current governor is Gretchen Whitmer, who was elected in November 2018.
